Humanities and Business

Head of Department: Lyle Fredericksen

By studying Humanities students develop the ability to question, think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, make decisions and adapt to change. In years 7-10 students participate in a semester of both history and geography as per the Australian Curriculum. All students study a term of business in year 7 before selecting it as an elective.
History follows the progression from the Ancient world to the Modern events of the 20th century. Students can continue this study into senior history. While geography requires students to build their understanding of place, space, environment, interconnection, sustainability and change and apply this understanding to a wide range of places and environments from a local to international level. Business requires students to develop entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy and an understanding of how consumers and producers interact in the wider market.
