Tuesday 11th February is Safer Internet Day which is an annual, worldwide event to help encourage a better internet. This day encourages individuals to create a better internet by developing four, critical skills. We call these skills the 4Rs: Respect, Responsibility, Reasoning and Resilience.
On this day, Tod Dodson from the Queensland Police Servi...ce will deliver the ‘Speak Up, Be Strong, Be Heard’ presentations which aims to raise awareness in communities on the issues surrounding child abuse and empower children and community members to come forward and report. These 45 minute interactive presentations equip students with the knowledge to make informed decisions when using the internet. These presentations will cover topics including password protection, online apps & games, online safety including grooming, cyber bullying the effects it has on others and more.
Computer labs will also be opened up at lunchtime for students to participate in cyber safe workshops. These will include emotive and informative computer games around topics of cyberbullying, building digital intelligence skills and encouraging online safety.
Students and staff will also have the opportunity to take a pledge to show their support for the day.
