The Gordonvale State High School SUMMIT Program is designed for high performing, both academically and in Touch Football, students who demonstrate drive and passion for learning. The programs aims to extend students learning in Maths/Science, English/Humanities and/or Touch Football as well as their leadership, resilience and persistence in achieving their academic and/or sporting goals. The three year program (Year 7, 8 and 9) fosters the cognitive, social and emotional growth of students in the critical junior secondary phase of learning.
The focus of the Gordonvale State High School SUMMIT Program is on the learning areas of English/Humanities, Maths/Science and Touch Football. Students can apply to participate in the all core subjects, including Touch Football or any combination which meets their learning needs and aspirations. Students combine with the remainder of their cohort for all other subjects.
The program has an emphasis on developing 21st Century Thinking Skills and participation in extension activities including competitions, projects and sporting carnivals. In the initial years there is special emphasis on individual learning projects.
